The Three Formats of Cricket and Bangladesh's Favourite Tournaments

T20 — Fast and Tense

With innings of just 20 overs, every ball can change the result. BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup are the three tournaments that attract the most interest from Bangladeshi fans. All markets for these tournaments are available together at jackpot.

ODI — The 50-Over Contest

In the one-day format the pace of a match changes more gradually, giving more room for strategy. For Bangladesh Tigers matches in the ICC Champions Trophy or World Cup qualifiers, betting markets usually open well in advance.

Test — The Five-Day Challenge

In Test cricket, match winner, innings runs and series result markets are available from the start. Odds shift at the end of each day based on wickets and runs, which makes in-play betting interesting.

At jackpot, every major cricket event is covered — from domestic tournaments like BPL and IPL to international series. Betting is for entertainment only — the outcome of every match is entirely uncertain.

Popular Betting Markets and How They Work

01

Match Winner

A bet on which of two teams will win. Example: if you pick Team A, the bet is successful only if Team A wins.

02

Toss Winner

Which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result depends entirely on the coin, so odds are usually close to even.

03

Top Batsman

Which batsman within a team will score the most runs. The batting lineup and pitch conditions are factors to consider in this market.

04

Total Runs Over/Under

Whether the total runs scored will be above (over) or below (under) a set run line. Example: whether more than 160 runs will be scored in the first innings.

05

Multi Bet (Multiple Selections)

Combining multiple matches or markets into one bet increases the combined odds. However, if any one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

06

Next Wicket / Over Runs

How many runs will be scored in the next over, or when the next wicket will fall — these markets change quickly in in-play situations.

07

Handicap

A team is given a virtual advantage or disadvantage to make the contest more even. This is used most often in matches between a stronger and a weaker side.

jackpot Odds Formats in Cricket Betting

Odds Are Written in Three Formats — What Is the Difference?

The value of the same selection in the same match can be shown in three different ways. They all convey the same information, just expressed differently.

Say ৳500 is placed on Team A to win. The odds in three formats: Decimal 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150. If Team A wins, the total return is ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + original ৳500 back); if they lose, ৳500 is gone.

For the favourite, odds are lower. For a bet on Team B to win: Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American −400 (minus means how much you need to stake to win ৳100). With a ৳500 bet, if Team B wins the total return is ৳625 (৳125 profit).

These numbers are for illustration only — they are not the actual odds for any specific match and do not guarantee a win.

Live In-Play Betting — Odds Change the Moment a Wicket Falls

Betting while a match is in progress is called in-play or live betting. In cricket, odds update instantly after every wicket, boundary and over. If a team is behind on runs at the end of the powerplay, their odds of winning increase immediately. Likewise, if two quick wickets fall, the batting team's underdog position becomes even clearer.

jackpot's live betting markets are easy to use on mobile. Install the jackpot app through jackpot App or jackpot APK and place bets on ongoing matches — the features and payment methods are the same.

Live betting requires quick decisions. Markets may sometimes be suspended briefly during a break in play or at key moments in a match.

Football and Other Sports Beyond Cricket

Cricket is the largest betting section at jackpot, but football also has strong markets. For the English Premier League, Champions League or World Cup qualifiers — match winner, handicap and both teams to score markets are available.

The main difference between cricket and football betting is the pace of the game. In football, a tie or draw is a separate outcome (the 1 × 2 market), but in T20 or ODI cricket there is generally no draw — one team must win. In Test cricket a draw is possible, so three-outcome markets are used there.

Markets for sports such as tennis, badminton and kabaddi may also be available at jackpot at certain times. For boxing match betting, find more information on the jackpot boxing betting page.

The Three Main Outcomes in Football Betting

1 (home team win), × (draw), 2 (away team win) — the 1 × 2 market is built around these three options. As with cricket, multiple matches can be added to a multi bet here as well.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind Before Betting

Cricket betting is entertainment — not a regular source of income. Betting always carries the risk of losing money, so it is better to decide in advance how much you are willing to spend. Detailed information on responsible betting is available at jackpot.

  • Read the market rules carefully before placing a bet — this helps avoid misunderstanding outcomes in over/under or handicap markets.
  • The combined odds in a multi bet may look large, but a single wrong selection loses the entire bet.
  • Live betting requires fast decisions — understand the situation and stay patient.
  • Treat each bet separately; placing a larger bet to recover a previous loss is not a good idea.
  • Set a fixed budget for your betting account and do not go beyond that limit.

Cricket Betting Common Questions

In T20, markets shift quickly because the match ends in just 40 overs. In ODI, 100 overs are played, so mid-match stats play a bigger role in betting decisions. In Test cricket, a draw is possible over five days, so there are three-outcome markets — T20 and ODI generally have no draw option.

Yes. Multiple matches or markets can be combined into a single multi bet. If all selections win, the combined odds apply. For example, if three selections have odds of 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.59 (approximately), a ৳100 bet returns ৳459 if all win. However, if any one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

In in-play betting, markets for runs in the next over, next wicket, total runs in the current innings, and match winner are commonly available. Odds update instantly when a wicket falls or a big shot is played. Some markets may be temporarily suspended at key moments.

With decimal odds of 2.50, a ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳1,250 if it wins — meaning ৳750 profit plus the original ৳500 back. If it loses, ৳500 is gone. Simple rule: total return = stake × odds. Fractional 3/2 or American +150 — these all represent the same value, just expressed differently.

If a match is cancelled or ends in a draw due to rain, the bet may be voided and the stake refunded according to jackpot's betting rules. What happens in specific situations is detailed in the terms and conditions.
